※문맥에 맞게 해석!!

◇ so that~ 과 so ~that:

1. so that ~: 목적, 결과(therefor, and so), 조건(if only, so long as)

~하기 위해서, 그 결과 ~이다              ~한다면                      

㉠목적

*He got up early so that he might be in time for the train.

= He got up early so as to be in time for the train.

 그는 아침 일찍 일어났다. 기차 시간에 늦지 않기 위해.

㉡결과 * A great storm arose, so that the ship were wrecked.

엄청난 폭풍이 일어났다, 그결과 배는 산산조각이 났다.

㉢조건 * Any book will do, so that it is interesting.

   어떤 책이든 충분할 것이다, 그것이 흥미롭기만 하면

2. so~ that (so that 이하가 결과 부사절 )

너무 ~해서 ~하다.

* He got up so early that he was in time for the train.

= He got up so early as to be in time for the train. 

 그는 아침 일찍 일어나서, 기차에 늦지 않게 았다.

In the medical profession, technology is advancing so fast that questions of law and ethics cannot be discussed and answered fast enough.

 의학계에서는, 기술이 너무 빠르게 진보해서, 법과 윤리에 관한 문제를 토론하고 답할 수 없다. 충분히 빠르게.

The birds return every year around March, so that April is a good time to see them.

새는 매년 3월 쯤 돌아온다. 그 결과 4월은 새를 보기에 좋은 시기 이다.

 영어를 읽다 보면 우리가 알고 있는 쉬운 동사(기본동사)가 해석이 안되거나 어떻게 해야 할지 애매한 경우가 있는데, 이를 위해서는 다음과 같은 표현들을 많이 익혀 두는 게 좋다.  ex) make, have, take, give

 ※ 공무원 시험의 경우 해석만 할 줄 알면 된다.

 다음 표현은 make와 관련된 것인데 make 의 만들다의 뜻보다는 뒤에 있는 명사가 동사 의미를 갖는다고 생각하면 된다.

알고도 해석하기 힘든 문장들.

 소위 말하는 숙어적 표현들의 경우 알고도 해석이 잘 안되는 경우가 있다.

Cf) 숙어적 표현이라고 한 이유는 사실 숙어가 아니기 때문이다

그 이유는 숙어적 표현 사이에 부사가 첨가되거나 관계대명사로 바뀌어 눈에 잘 안 보이기 때문이다. 이렇게 안 보이면 해석이 매끄럽지 못해 버벅거린다. 아래의 예문은 그런 문장들인데, 여러 번 읽고 어떻게 바뀌고 어떻게 찾아야 되는지 학습.

다음 예문을 읽고 해석하시오.

예문은 모두 관계대명사로 쓰여 동사와 명사가 분리되어 있다. 이를 한눈에 파악하는 연습이 필요하다.

play a role in  ~한 역할을 한다

Developed countries and the global consumer should acknowledge the role they play in what happens in these sweatshops.   (play를 놀다로 해석하지 않는다)

 선진국과 글로벌 소비자들은 인정해야 한다/ 역할을 /그들이 하는/ 이러한 노동착취현장에서 발생하는 것에 대한/

 미세먼지 (fine dust)   << 영어지문에 나올 수 있으니 단어 정도는

요즘 날씨가 풀리고 다시 미세먼지가 활개를 치고 있다.

이번 겨울은 

추우면 맑은 날, 날씨가 풀리면 미세먼지 날이라는 등식이 성립하고 있다.

만약 미세먼지 관련 주제가 면접 주제로 나온다면,

 원인보다는 미세먼지로 인한 피해, 국민 생활에 끼치는 영향, 해결 방법, 그리고 

왜 미세먼지를 국가가 해결해야 하는가 정도로 나올 수 있다. 

 우선 제일 중요한 미세먼지를 국가가 왜 해결해야하는가?

그냥, '국민 생활에 지대한 영향을 끼치고 이를 국가는 방지해야 한다'라고 하기 보다는

헌법적 근거를 가지고 답변한다면  더 논리적인 답변이 될 것이다.

 즉, 헌법 제35조는 " 모든 국민은 건강하고 쾌적한 환경에서 생활할 권리를 가지며, 국가와 국민은 환경보전을 위하여 노력하여야 한다'라고 환경권을 명문으로 규정하고 있다. 그렇기 때문에 국가는 헌법을 수호할 의무를 가지기 때문에 도의적 관점 뿐만 아니라 헌법적 관점에서도 미세먼지 문제를 대처 해결하도록 노력해야 한다. 

 이처럼 면접을 할 때, 수험 공부를 하면서 배웠던 지식을 활용한다면 답변이 더욱 풍부하고 논리적으로 보이는 데 도움이 될 것 이다.

 원인 : 다양(노후 자동차)등등. 하지만 중국발 원인이라는 정황이 높다

문제점 

         1) 미시적: 개인의 신체에 악영향, 개인의 심리적 상태에 악영향

이와 같이 답변을 할 때 또는 개인발표(PT)를 할 때, 단순히 나열식이 아니라 대분류 소분류를 통해 답변한다면 더 좋은 답변이 될 것이다.

계속 담론 담론 하는데 정확히 모르는 분을 위해서~

현실에 관한 설명을 산출하는 언표(statement)와 규칙의 자기지시적인 집합체.

담화(談話) 또는 언술(言述), 언설(言說)이라고도 한다. 일반적으로 담론은 말로 하는 언어에서는 한 마디의 말보다 큰 일련의 말들을 가리키고, 글로 쓰는 언어에서는 한 문장보다 큰 일련의 문장들을 가리키는 언어학적 용어이다.

담론은 사용 중인 언어를 가리키기도 하는데, 이는 포스트구조주의 이론가인 미셸 푸코(Michel Foucault)의 영향에 따른 것이다. 미셸 푸코는 담론을 특정 대상이나 개념에 대한 지식을 생성시킴으로써 현실에 관한 설명을 산출하는 언표들의 응집력 있고 자기지시적인 집합체로 간주하였다.

의역: 학생들의 신체는 정해진 수업시간 동안 우리와 함께 한 교실에 갖혀있을지 모르지만, 학생들의 생각은  완전히 다른 곳에 있다.
