no more than, not more than, no less than, not less than 비교급

no more than, no more~ than, not more than, no less than, no less~ than, not less than

비슷하게 생겼지만 뜻은 약간씩 또는 완전히 다른 비교급 표현들이다.

쉽게 외우는 방법은 없다. 여러 번 반복해서 습득하는 것이 최고다.

다만,

no가 나올 경우 as로 생각하고 more, less를 반대로 바꿈. more -> little,  less -> much

not 은 't'     생각하는 게 최선이다

 독해나 작문 영역에서 나올 수 있으니 대비해야 한다.

no more than=only    ~일 뿐인   <-따로 암기

no less than=as much as  ~못지않게

He gave me no more than $5.

그는 나에게 겨우 5달러를 주었다.

He gave me no less than $500.

그는 나에게 500달러 만큼이나 주었다.

Most resumes are read for no more than a few seconds.

no less ~ than - :(as much  ~ as)  ~만큼 ~히다

no more ~ than - :(as little ~ as)  결코 ~하지 않다  -만큼, ~하지 않다  -하는 것처럼.

He is no less responsible for it than you are.

그는 이것에 대해 책임감이 있다. 당신만큼.

I am no more mad than you are.

나는 결코 미치지 않았다. 당신만큼.

 고래는 물고기가 아니다. 말이 물고기가 아닌 것처럼.
