불가산 명사 - 시험 출제

★불가산 명사=셀 수 없는 명사

: a(n)나 -s를 붙이지 않는다.

 

 the를 쓸 경우

＊정해진 사람이나 사물을 가리킬 때 the

The milk here is expensive.     여기서 그 우유는 비싸다.

 

＊일반적인 사람이나 사물을 가리킬 때 the 사용 X

Milk is good for your health.    우유는 당신의 건강에 좋다

 

＊기준

1) 셀 수 없은 추상 명사: happiness, time, art

2) 물질 명사: ice, coffee, meat, garlic, money

3) 집합 명사: personnel, staff, crew, wildlife, police

 

※주요 불가산 명사 단어

information / evidence/ new/ mail/ luggage수하물,짐/ baggage 수하물,짐/ advice/ furniture/ traffic/ equipment/ litter 쓰레기/ permission 허가 / intelligence 지능, 정보,/ news 소식 뉴스/ clothing 옷/ homework /garbage 쓰레기

occupancy (건물,토지 등의) 사용 caffeine / accommodation 거처, 숙소

불가산 명사인지 가산 명사인지는 기준은 있지만 예외가 많아서

개별 단어를 공부하면서 습득하는 수밖에 없다.

 

＊불가산 명사를 세는 개념으로 쓸 경우

a piece of advice 와 같이 a piece of 와 같은 구를 붙여 사용. 

 

※시험에 나오는 개별 중요 단어 

 

★time 기본적으로 셀 수 없는 명사(관사, 복수형 불가)

그러나

1) the first time, have a good time, a long time ago 처럼 수식어가 붙은 경우 가능

2)   Do you have the time?                       몇 시니?

Do you have time?                          시간 있니?

3) times 시대                Times are changing.        시대가 변하고 있다

 

★grass 의미에 따라

★history (학문으로서의) 역사 – 불가산

★species (단복수 형태 동일) 종

ex) Although some beluga whale populations have declined, the species as a whole is not in danger.

  

★ people (항상 복수)
