실용영어(회화) 위주 공부방법

***Your First Suggestion Imagine speaking English automatically... without thinking. The words come out of your mouth easily, and fast. You understand instantly. To do this, you must change the way you study English. (영어를 잘하게 된 모습을 상상해라! – 이는 대부분 학습 방법론에 나오는 내용인 것 같다)

규칙1: 개별 단어 위주로 공부하거나 외우지 말라. 구를 중심으로 공부해라. 소위 chunk단위, 즉 덩어리로 공부하라는 것과 같은 맥락이다.

규칙2: 자연스럽게 대화하고 싶다면 문법을 공부하지 말라. 문법에 너무 연연하다 보면 말할 때 오히려 방해가 된다. 그리고 경험적으로 문법을 완전히 숙달하더라도 실생활에서 자연스럽게 말을 못한다.

규칙3: 가장 중요한 규칙 중 하나인데, 듣기를 열심히 해라. 대부분 우리나라의 경우 텍스트 위주로 공부하기 때문에 영어를 못하는 원인 중 하나가 아닌가 싶다. 그리고 실제 어린이의 언어 학습 과정을 보면 듣기를 가장 많이 한다.

규칙4: 여러 개, 많이 공부하는 것이 아닌 자세하고 깊게 공부해라. 한단어를 보더라도 잎에서 자동적으로 나올 수 있도록 계속해서 듣고 활용하는 연습을 해야 한다.

규칙5: 실제 영어에서 쓰는 자료로 공부해라. 요즘은 인터넷일 발달되어 있어 구하기 쉽다. 미드, ted 등.

규칙6: 단순히 듣고 반복하기 보다는 듣고, 답해라 -> 이는 현실적으로 쉽지 않다. 그나마 단순히 듣고 반복하는 거라도 한다면 도움이 된다. 

 당연한 얘기지만 외국인과 대화하는 기회를 자주 가져라. 외국인과의 대화 기회를 만드는 방법은 인터넷 검색을 하면 다양한 언어교환 사이트가 있으니 참고하면 된다(ex) https://language.exchange/). 아니면 전화영어를 하는 방법도 있다.

 가장 할 수 있는 방법: 미드를 한 편을 정한 뒤, 한 편만 계속 반복해서 보고 듣고 따라한다. 즉,시즌 하나를 다 보기 보다는 한 편을 여러 번 계속 본다. 생각보다 쉽지 않다. 봤던 것을 계속 보는 것이어서 질리기 때문에 많은 인내가 필요하다. 미드 영어 강의로 추천할 만한 강사는 안병규 선생님이다.

 

**RULE 1:  Always Study and Review Phrases, Not Individual Words Never study a single, individual word.  Never. When you find a new word, always write down The Phrase it is in.  Always.  When you review, always review all of the phrase,.. not the word. Collect phrases.  Your speaking and grammar will improve 4-5 times faster.  Never again study a single word.   Never write a single word in your notebook, always write the complete phrase.

**RULE 2: Don't Study Grammar. Stop studying grammar. Right now. Put away your grammar books and textbooks.  Grammar rules teach you to think about English, you want to speak automatically-- without thinking!

**RULE 3: The Most Important Rule-- The rule is listening.          Listening, listening, listening. 

You must listen to UNDERSTANDABLE English.  You must listen to English EVERYDAY. Don't read textbooks. Listen to English. It’s simple.  That is the key to your English success.  Stop reading textbooks.  Start listening everyday. 

**Learn With Your Ears, Not Your Eyes

 In most schools, you learn English with your eyes.  You read textbooks. You study grammar rules. Spend most of your study time listening- that is the key to great

**RULE 4: The secret to speaking easily is to learn every word & phrase DEEPLY. It’s not enough to know a definition.  It’s not enough to remember for a test. You must put the word deep into your brain. To speak English easily, you must repeat each lesson many times.  You must learn English deeply.    Learn deeply, speak easily.    Learn deeply, speak easily. How do you learn deeply?  Easy--  just repeat and listen many times.  For example, if you have an audio book, listen to the first chapter 30 times before you go to the second chapter.  You could listen to the first chapter 3 times each day, for 10 days.

**RULE 5: Only Use Real English Lessons & Materials You learn real English if you want to understand native speakers and speak easily.  Use real magazines, audio articles, TV shows, movies, radio talk shows, and audio books. **RULE 6:  Listen and Answer, not Listen and Repeat

 You learn to answer questions quickly-- without thinking.  Your English becomes automatic.
